Has anyone had multiple wedding cakes?

I am planning on going with the multiple wedding cake idea. Instead of having just one stacked cake, I was looking at having several round cakes. Two larger sized ones and the rest smaller. Any ideas on arrangement or patterns on the cake. I am looking to only use a few flowers if possible or go with a nice pattern. Any links or pictures you can provide would be great so I can borrow the ideas. Thanks!
Has anyone had multiple wedding cakes?

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersOk .................I got married 23 years ago and my cake was 3 layers (tiers) but not on top of each other, kinda like stair steps. The cake people had clear cylinders with the cake platform on top at 2 different heights. I put a few flowers inside the cylinder then the cake was placed on top. The biggest layer was just flat on the table. It was very pretty. Anyhow here are some other ideas! best wishes.......................
Reply:I had a traditional wedding cake that was surrounded by smaller cheesecakes, my favorite food!
Reply:I had one larger cake and two cupcake towers on each end of the table, and then of course a groomscake. I got a lot of compliments and the great thing was it made the cake cutters job easy bc the guests chose the cupcakes most.

The cake was sort of polka-dotted in the same color and the cupcakes were different designs, dots, swirls, etc. good luck!
Reply:In years past, there was a custom to have a Groom's cake. So multiple cakes would not be out of line. It is YOUR WEDDING. Do things the way YOU want.
Reply:When my husband and I got married, we had multiple cakes. To be more specific we had a cake at each table. It doubled as our centerpiece. It also added a personal touch because when it was cake cutting time, we went to each table and cut the cake for everyone and served it to them. This way everyone got an oppurtunity to get the cake cutting picture without having to push people around too.
Reply:You can take several cakes and make them look like a staircase with you and the groom on top, maid of honor and bridesmaids next, ushers next and on the bottom a flower girl and ring.bearer. Makes a great wedding picture too.

You can also have bridges from one cake to the other.

Each cake can be a different type (white, chocolate, carrot, etc) I've seen those believe or not.

Or you can have fancy filled cakes too.
Reply:Yes I had multiple cakes, there were two that were cheesecake and the other one chocolate and vanilla and other were custard. It's really personal on your tastes try going to La Sem they make the best Wedding cakes. Very delicious.
Reply:My sister and I got married on the same night. She was married at 7:00 P,M. I was married at 7:30 PM, We had a double reception . My little twin sisters were bridesmaids for both of us. They had to change from blue to green for my wedding. We did have 2 big wedding cakes on 2 different tables. More recently, most couples have at least two cakes; one for the bride and one for the groom..I had fun making a Groom's cake for my nephew in 1991. It was an Italian Cream cake. It was gone in a hurry. I should have made two of them.

Reply:I was considering doing it. I am thinking of making my own wedding cake and If I do I was thinking it would be easier to do two of them. Plus... hey if one gets dropped then there is still going to be a cake for the wedding :) I don't know why I have the fear of the dropped wedding cake.
Reply:If you just want ideas, I'd go www.weddingchannel.com , under ideas and advice they have a photo gallery of wedding cakes. Traditional, Floral, Unique cakes, Grooms cakes. Maybe one of the pictures will give you a good idea of what you want.
Reply:yes
Reply:you can have the cakes stacked diagonally at different heights a friend did this for her wedding and it looked very elegant.
Reply:I just did the planning for a wedding where the Bride was not crazy about the one big cake. what we ended up with was a small tradisional wedding cake and then she had 14 kinds of cheese cake. You can also have a traditional looking cake and make each layer a different flavor
Reply:My daughter had several cakes instead of a stacked cake, They were placed on pillars and stagered in placement! They were beautiful! Wal-Mart makes these, and also, there should be a table for the Grooms cake. It is usually chocolate and it is just for the Groom, Best Man, and Groomsman, and if any is left it should be for the ushers and doormen, oh and don`t forget The Ring Bearer!

If you would like to see pics of my daughters cake, e-mail me and I`ll -mail them to you. It had a roman look to it with ivy , fake of course placed to give it more of an eligant look!

Congrats and Be Blessed!
Reply:I had some stacked in the center, and several off to the sides. I used the Cinderella theme. So my main cakes had a Cinderella music box, each of the other cakes had Cinderella figures, such as a shoe, gus the mouse, the prince, and pumpkin coach. If I can down load a photo, I will attach it this afternoon.
Reply:I planned a wedding 3 years ago and she had 10 cakes.

they were staggered in height and spiraled around in a semi-circle. Each cake was a different flavor, it was very pretty. the first link is like her cake but without all the flowers and the center cakes. The other link is to one of the websites I send my brides to when they want ideas for wedding cake styles

Reply:Yeah I have been to many wedding with multiple wedding cakes. I like it more 2 taste :)
Reply:You can have a groom's cake, and a couple's wedding cake. and if you want you can do a simple 3 tier cake, and then give out mini wedding cakes. But the grooms cake is based off his hobbie, favorite sport, or animal and has colors different from you actual wedding cake.
Reply:Good idea. One thing I can tell you, from what others have said, don't save any cake for your anniversary, unless you love the taste of freezer-burned cake. Or was it freezer-dried? Anyway, it's nasty. My husband and I ended up having to get blank birthday cakes because I made our cake, due to my dad having allergies, and it fell apart, so at the last minute I went to the grocery store and bought 4 blank birthday cakes, but they did have flowers on the edges. Flowers are always nice. One cake I remember had pink and green frosting for the edging and flowers. The other was yellow and green. I can't remember the other two. Anyway, back to the cake that fell apart. The only part that stayed together was the top tier, so my dad got to eat that.
Reply:i have heard of putting a small elegant cake on each table as a centerpiece. it may not be as dramatic as a classic cake, but it would be a great conversation peice at the wedding. people love to see something unique at weddings. a great, unique wedding topper if you plan to get married in the spring is, believe it or not, an ostrich egg. a friend of mine carved an ostrich egg and put the minature people inside for my wedding. it looked like a much less gaudy version of a fabrage egg. it was so classy and elegant, people didn't even believe that it was a real egg. it was really neat. good luck to you on whatever you choose!
Reply:Hi! I like the multiple cake look. I work for a bakery in Las Vegas . I would take a look at our site, we have been on 40$ a day, martha stewart, al roker on the road, plus have been in las vegas for near 50 years. There are many designs on it and you can print the photos and take them to the bakery you are using.
