Is anyone here a florist?

Hi there!


I have made wreaths, arrangements, swags, etc. Most of them have been good enough people have asked me to make them one for special occassions and have they them hanging up or have used them in the past.


The only issue I have is I have two children and am a stay at home mom but would like to get involved in the business and was wondering if you have any tips. Any advice would be appreciated, even advice on how to make my arrangements even better than they are.


I do have a request though, I would like to work with real florists. I do not mind dried flowers, I can accomodate to anything but just an idea.

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersWell, I know that a beginning florist does not pay well enough to cover daycare costs. I also know they have either 9 to 5 or 9 to 6 hours. They work on Saturdays too, but won't hire a one-day-a-week person. I came up with 2 choices- Sell on consignment to the floral shops your silks and dried flower arrangements OR start your own business on-line or at the local Flea Market. The market is usually Sat %26amp; Sun and takes up all your weekend time. This leaves the on-line. You then have the flexability of making your arrangements at your time without a 9 to 5 or weekend dedication. Hope this helps....good luck in whatever you decide to do. (The high paid florists have school degrees and won awards for their artistic creations)

do you spray your wreaths after you have made them with hairspray to help preserve them?
Reply:hello. i am not a florist ... i am wondering if there is any chance you could get a night school class at a local college doing floristry ..that way you would have some kind of professional certificate at the end of it and would be able to show the florist shop owners that you are capable and able to do the work .but stipulate that you will need to be able to work at home... good luck with this i hope it all works out well for you xxloan
