I am having trouble with finding finding flowers for my wedding?

Flowers can be so expensive, all I am looking to get is my bouquet, 5 BM bouquets, 2 FG bouquets, 2 arrangements for the church, and boutineers for the men and parents/grandparents. People quoted me around $1000. I think thats too much. What is the right price? I dont want to spend lot, I want simple and elegant. What are your opinions? Any ideas welcome, thanks.

Yes....that would be about the right price! That is a lot of flowers....especially for all the girls. You can do a number of things:

Set a budget and have the florist work within that budget. Perhaps all the flowers you want are the expensive ones??? There are always alternative flowers is the same colors....or cut down your bouquets.

Another idea (for the bridesmaids) that I have seen and looked really pretty is simply 3 roses and greens tied with a silk ribbon. Here is a link...it%26#039;s about 1/2 way down the page on the left (3 pink roses)

For the flower girls....you can buy the silk %26quot;kissing balls%26quot; at stores like Michael%26#039;s, Save-on-Crafts (online), Walmart. They look really cute. OR.....make up your own basket of flowers.....easy to do! Simply buy a small basket....they sell them everywhere...even dollar stores! Get some floral foam...and buy some roses (or other flowers) from Walmart, Costco, or any grocery store that has a floral department and do it yourself....it%26#039;s easy!

Same thing for the church flowers. Do you know ANYONE that can arrange flowers well? I buy roses at Walmart all the time....$10/dozen! You can buy lovely large vases at places like Walmart, Michael%26#039;s, Hobby Lobby, etc. Then buy some flowers (any kind you want)...and arrange them yourself! You could do 2 arrangments for about $30 including the vases!!

I LOVE fresh flowers, but yes, they are expensive. There are ways to cut down, however. Have you thought about checking the prices of a florist in a grocery store? I know it seems strange...but they ARE trained floral designers! Ask to see pictures of weddings they have done. Just an idea!

Good luck!
Reply:Ive never used this, but they have some prices that are wonderful, and not quite 1000 but right under, which saves a couple hundred, from what I see they have amazing premade bouquets and everything.... enjoy

Reply:For simple and elegant, you could try having dramatic single stemmed flowers around, and each of your %26#039;maids holding one. You could hold a few long-stemmed ones yourself instead of big fluffy bouquet.

Another thing you can do is look at craft stores for really nice silks for your centerpieces and seat decor, and reserve the real ones for key pieces like your bouquet, the guys%26#039; boutonniers, (spelled wrong sorry), etc. That will save you a lot and if you go with high-quality silks, you%26#039;ll still end up paying less than for real.

Do you have a farmer%26#039;s market nearby? You may want to see if they have any flowers, because you can get them from markets much much MUCH cheaper than a florist!
Reply:Shop around a bit. The event manager at our reception venue suggested that I go to the floral department at the local grocery store. I checked there, and the prices weren%26#039;t bad, but they wouldn%26#039;t deliver. I then checked with a small, local florist and they were not only able to give me a better price on the boutonnieres and corsages (same price for the bouquets), but they would deliver (for an extra charge, but it might be worth it with all the things that have to be done on wedding day). I was given a price of $75 for my bouquet (lilies and roses), $35 for my matron of honor%26#039;s bouquet (seasonal flowers yet to be selected), $8 per boutonniere (rose) and $10 per corsage (seasonal flower or rose, to be determined). It%26#039;s worth comparison-shopping.
Reply:For fresh flowers it doesn%26#039;t sound too expensive. You could always try silk flowers. That%26#039;s what I%26#039;m having at my wedding and you can get anything. The prices don%26#039;t change because of the season you%26#039;re in and you have them forever.

Good luck!
Reply:another alternative to flowers- you could do something I%26#039;m doing - that is, crystal bouquets. I%26#039;m making them myself, and it truly is quite a bit cheaper. My bouquet cost me $50. My bridesmaids bouquets are around $35, and bouts for the guys are $4! They are absolutely beautiful, so if you need any ideas and want to do this, let me know! Here%26#039;s a pic to show you kind of what they are- you can make them however you want- mine are clear beads with hot pink ones too.

I was trying to figure out cheaper way to do flowers too, and was about to just do them myself, but then I came upon this idea, and I thought it was really neat because I can keep my bouquet forever :) Good luck!

save-on-crafts and afloral.com both have great prices for flowers. ac moore does 50% all floral sales thruought the year.

i say silk all the flowers but the church flowers and parents/grand parents flowers.

nothing wrong with quality silks in my opinion. most look so real now a days you almost can%26#039;t tell they are fake unless you stick your face in them to smell

but again i agree with the prev poster, shop around if you want fresh flowers. check with bjs and grocery stores too. many have floral departments that are rather nice
Reply:That sounds like a reasonable price. Otherwise, try Costco. They offer bouquets for pretty cheap.
Reply:The price depends on where you live and what kind of flowers you are getting. I live in Michigan and getting my bouquet, 2 mothers corsages, two grandmothers corsages, five, boutiners, bm flowers, and two dozen rose arrangements for the ceremony/head tables, and a toss bouquet around $500. I%26#039;m going with simple roses, and my bm are carrying a single rose while the moh is carrying three roses tied with a ribbon.affiliate
